Very interesting analysis of the industries that will characterize most of the first half of the twenty first century. But the author is a bit too optimistic that these industries will absorb all the working population of a world with 9 billion inhabitants. Where few will harness the full benefits of precision medicine, cybersecurity, big data, blockchain, precision agriculture. For those that will continue to have non-qualified occupations, how can they improve their quality of life? The author does not even start to discuss this topic.

Guns, Germs, and Steel - Jared Diamond
It had been sitting on my bookshelf for ten years. Eventually I found the time to read this masterpiece in historical and anthropological research. Diamond is a creative thinker. Even though, as a writer, he some times ends up telling the same story again and again with multiple examples.

Chronicles on our Troubled Times - Thomas Piketty
This collection of articles written by Piketty for various French newspaper has a couple of interesting pieces, but quickly becomes boring. Piketty always goes back to topics he's very familiar with. Nothing more than a commercial operation done to leverage the success of "Capital in the Twenty-First Century".

Capital in the Twenty-First Century - Thomas Piketty
Mammoth piece of research, documented in the finest details, about the origins of the economic inequality that characterizes our century. The language is understandable also for the laymen, but writing style is slow. It took me almost a year to read it all. I agree with all conclusions and recommendations

Creative Schools - Sir Ken Robinson and Lou Aronica
The future of education is nothing like the one imagined by many politicians. Not the one made up of STEM, standard tests, rigid separation between general and vocational education. Sir Ken Robinson, one of the global greatest experts in the science of education, and journalist Lou Aronica make this crystal clear. And their prose is so flawless and funny. A must read for anybody, most importantly parents with children in school, interested in the future of education and its impact on the ability of every individual to live a happy life.

Reading Lolita in Tehran - Azar Nafisi
When I bought this book almost ten years ago, I thought it was a novel. Instead, and I should have paid attention to the subtitle, it is a memoir. A memoir of an American and English literature professor, who starts her academic career in Tehran, right after the revolution. And she takes her students on a journey through world of contemporary novels, where they are free to think and fantasize. While the regime tries to annihilate their freedom.

Cervello - Alberto Oliviero
Interesting essay that sums up the key pillars of contemporary neurosciences. From the convergence between neurology and psychology, to behavioral economics. It helps the layman understand the brain as a complex and malleable system, rather than a static archive of specific zones related to body and sensory functions.
