Il classico libro di cui ho sempre sentito parlare, ne ho intravisto qualche paragrafo, ho letto il 'cugino' "Il Bar Sotto il Mare" molti anni fa, ma non ho mai avuto occasione di leggere completamente. Un classico della letteratura umoristica italiana. Benni è superbo nel costruire assurdi stereotipi trasformando il surreale in reale, anziché il contrario, perché questi personaggi sembrano davvero estratti da un bar di provincia. Però, come per "Il Bar Sotto il Mare", alla lunga il surrealismo di alcune situazioni mi stanca. Forse se ne accorge anche l'autore dato che il romanzo è piuttosto corto. Decisamente non è il mio genere.
The typical book that everyone talks about, I glanced at a couple of paragraphs from time to time, I read its 'cousin' "Il Bar Sotto il Mare", but never had the chance to go through the entire novel. When it came out in 1976, it quickly became a classic of Italian comic literature. Benni is superb in describing absurd stereotypes transforming surreal into real. Because the characters seems really extracted from suburbia's bars, but then their funny sides come out on steroids from Benni's pencil. However, as for "Il Bar Sotto il Mare", after too many pages of surreal characters and situations, I got tired. Maybe the author knows it too, since the book is very short. Definitely not my genre.
