Se il premio Nobel per l'economia 2008 si professa apertamente liberal, ovvero socialista nell'accezione europea del termine, beh, allora è un ulteriore conferma che sono dalla parte giusta! Il libro che non ti aspetti da Krugman; invece di analizzare meccanismi puramente economici, si tuffa in una disamina socio-politica degli ultimi 80 anni di storia americana. Ne scaturisce un manifesto di pensiero che sostiene che solo con un'adeguata rete di protezione sociale e sanitaria ci può essere una crescita economica equa; un new New Deal come lo chiama l'autore. Sicuramente giusto, almeno dal mio punto di vista, però da Krugman mi aspettavo anche qualche spunto innovativo in più, su come risolvere i problemi di un sistema economico allo sbando.

This is the book you don't expect from Krugman; instead of pure and deep economic analysis, he dives into socio-political discussions of the last 80 years of American history. What comes out is a political manifesto that argues that only with adequate social and healthcare safety nets, economic growth can be equitable; a new New Deal as the author calls it. Undoubtedly right, at least from my point of view, nonetheless I was expecting Krugman to come up with some more innovative ideas on how to tackle the deep-rooted crisis of a whole economic model.
